Hopkins High School orchestras to present free concert for children

The Hopkins High School orchestras will perform their annual Young People’s Concert on Thursday, October 28, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the gymnasium. The concert will be preceded at 6 p.m. by face-painting, balloon animals, snacks, and “instrument petting zoo” at which children can try out orchestra instruments. The music will include selections from The Lion King; The Incredibles; Mickey Mouse March; Do, Re, Mi; and Pirates of the Caribbean. Admission is free, and children are invited to wear their pajamas and bring their favorite blanket to sit on the gym floor.

Love & Limits for Infants & Toddlers

For parents of infants & toddlers, parents only class

From the beginning, little ones need both love AND limits. This discussion will look at ways to set limits which respect your little one’s emerging independence, while giving the necessary structure for safety and growth.

Time: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Place: Harley Hopkins Family Center, 125 Monroe Ave. S., Hopkins

Cost: $10/adult, $15/household. Childcare for children birth through kindergarten available, $5 per child in Harley room 35.

Bye Bye Baby – Baby Sign Language Class

When your baby waves “Bye Bye” they are already using baby sign language. Bring your infant and learn several basic signs. Even if your baby is too young to wave “Bye Bye,” you can learn all about this exciting way to communicate so you are ready when they are.

Tuesday, Oct. 12 6:30 – 8:00 pm

This class is for parents and their children 0-18 months.

Cost: $10/adult, $15/household. Child care for children birth through kindergarten is available, $5 per child.

This class will be held at the Harley Hopkins Family Center, 125 Monroe Ave. S., Hopkins, room 34.
